Personal adornment was of special importance to the early Anasazi. Complex hairstyles and head ornament, necklaces, pendants, and earrings of seeds, seashells and ground polished stones have all been recovered in these cliff dwellers.  We have seen a great many of these items depicted in the chiseled images preserved in rock.

We are continuously impressed by the elaborate stories told on these canyon walls.  The oldest Rock Images of the Anasazi are that of the Basket-maker period. The Basketmakers, among the first farmers of the area. To supplement their cultivated canyon crops, small groups of Indians traveled into the highlands in their quest for wild food. They hunted with curved throwing sticks similar to "rabbitsticks" still used by the Hopi.
